Information We Collect

Account & Enrollment Information

When you register for an account, enroll in a course, or sign up for corporate or community training, we collect information such as your name, email address, contact details, and payment information necessary to process your enrollment.

Comments and Course Discussions

When visitors or students leave comments, reviews, or participate in course discussion areas, we collect the content submitted, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string, to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (a “hash”) may be shared with the Gravatar service to check whether you have a Gravatar profile picture. Gravatar’s privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once a comment is approved, any associated profile picture is visible publicly alongside your comment.

Media Uploads

If you upload images to the website (for example, in a profile or course submission), please avoid uploading images that contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the site may be able to extract this data from any images displayed publicly.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to having your name, email address, and website saved in a cookie. This is for your convenience, so you don’t need to re-enter these details when commenting again. These cookies last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we also set cookies to save your login information and display preferences. Login cookies last two days, and screen option cookies last a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login session will persist for two weeks. Logging out removes your login cookies.

If you edit or publish content on the site (e.g. as an instructor or administrator), an additional cookie is saved containing no personal data — only the post ID of the content you edited. It expires after one day.

Payment Processing

When you enroll in a paid course, your payment is processed by PayPal. We do not store your full payment card details on our servers. Please refer to PayPal’s privacy policy for details on how they handle your payment information.

Embedded Content

Pages and course materials on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, or articles from third-party platforms such as YouTube or Vimeo). Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited the other website directly.

These third-party websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content — including tracking your activity if you are logged into an account on that website.

Who We Share Your Data With

If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email for security purposes.

We may share limited enrollment or contact information with third-party service providers who help us operate the school — for example, our LMS platform, email marketing provider, or payment processor — solely for the purpose of delivering our services to you.

How Long We Retain Your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely, so that we can recognize and automatically approve any follow-up comments rather than holding them in a moderation queue.

For registered users and enrolled students, we retain the personal information provided in your account or student profile for as long as your account remains active, and afterward as needed to comply with our legal, accounting, or administrative obligations (for example, records of course completion or certification). You can view, edit, or request deletion of your personal information at any time, though your username cannot be changed. Website administrators can also view and edit this information as needed to manage your account.

Your Rights Over Your Data

If you have an account on this site, have enrolled in a course, or have left comments, you can request an exported copy of the personal data we hold about you. You can also request that we erase your personal data, except where we are legally required to retain certain information for administrative, legal, or security purposes (for example, financial records related to course payments).

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Enrollment and payment data may be transmitted to and processed by third-party service providers (such as your payment processor or LMS platform) as described above, which may be located outside your country of residence.
